Get Rid of It!!!
Welcome to our blog! Here is my first post: a cognitive dissonance cartoon I lifted off Facebook recently. Hmmm--might this help explain some contemporary political positions in the U.S.?
So I've been dealing with this cult for sometime. I found Dr. Bradleys point about the narcississits wanting to crate others in their own image is a familiar theme of not only crazy parents, but religion/cults as well. It's food for thought. But I really had to share this with u. Promise, there is more where this came from but I won't spam u all.http://tonyortega.org/2013/02/10/tom-cruise-can-raise-the-dead-and-more-scientology-sunday-funnies/#more-3674
You're doing fine Suzan. I'm glad you're finding some resources. I've been doing better with the chaos I've experienced with my ex-'s death since I started learning about NPD--narcissistic personality disorder. My doctor says it really helps the family members to be able to define and identify the behaviors when they pop up.
Wow, so my ex mother in law fit this bill to a tee. At least if i understand the psychosis, it is prevalent to greater and lesser degrees in all of us.
"Get Rid of It" is basically how the brain deals with stuff that doesn't fit (i.e. cognitive dissonance) but in terms of NPD (narcisissm), we all need "self care" and we all need support from other people. Not all of us are narcissists, however. That spectrum is almost of a different order. Personality Disorders lack something that "normal" neurotics have, for example, empathy. There is something specifically different about them, but the degree to which that missing thing affects them varies. I do not lack empathy so I am not a narcissist, or even a degree of one, although I have some characteristics that narcissists have. Selfishness is survival, but lack of empathy may be unrelated to survival.

Does anyone know who created this cartoon? I really should have an attribution of some sort in there! cb

Ah! Thanks.
I just realized that you can't click a link in the comments. Must cut and paste.
